Finding Myself Again: The Power of Passion Mapping

The Moment I Realised I Had Lost Myself

After I had my second baby, I felt like a shell of the person I used to be. My body had changed, I hated all my clothes, I didn’t have time to get my hair done, and even if I did, I wouldn’t have known what I wanted. I felt like I had nothing to talk about because my brain was consumed by the fact that my baby wouldn’t sleep, and I hated my husband. I had no bandwidth for anything else. In the rare moments I had to myself, I spent them Googling anything that might make me feel better—ways to lose weight, sleep training tips, how to stop resenting your partner after kids and activities that would keep my kids entertained for more than 5 mins with minimal mess.

It sounds crazy now, but the first step to finding myself again was losing weight. I could not get my head around eating healthily on top of everything else. This isn’t an ad, and I’m not here to push diet culture, but for me, feeling physically more like me was a domino effect. I joined a fat club and started drinking some well-known diet shakes because I didn't shakes which took the overwhelm out of being healthy and basically stopped me feeling like a bin becasue I was constantly just consuming leftovers. The weight started dropping, my jeans fit again, and suddenly, I wasn’t dreading leaving the house in anything that wasn't leggings and step by step I started to feel like me again.

The Domino Effect of Feeling Like Me Again

That small change gave me the confidence to look at the rest of my life. I finally told my husband, ‘We need therapy.’ I realised that my kids needed to go to nursery because I needed to go to work. I had the confidence to start promoting my business, to reclaim parts of myself I had buried under the weight of motherhood.

One of the most powerful tools I use with my clients now is Passion Mapping—because finding yourself again isn’t just about one thing. It’s about reconnecting with the parts of you that bring you joy.

Passion Mapping: Reconnecting with Yourself in Motherhood

Motherhood can feel all-consuming, leaving little time to think about what truly lights you up. This exercise is designed to help you rediscover your passions, strengths, and the things that make you feel alive—because you deserve to feel like YOU again.

Take your time with these questions. There are no right or wrong answers. Just let your thoughts flow. 💛

1. Your Childhood Joys ✨

  • What activities did you love as a child before you started worrying about being ‘good’ at them?

  • What hobbies or interests did you naturally gravitate towards?

  • If you could spend a whole afternoon doing something you loved as a child, what would it be?

2. Your Current Sparks 🔥

  • What are the moments in your current life where you feel most alive or most like yourself?

  • When do you find yourself getting lost in the moment, forgetting about time?

  • What topics do you love talking about or learning about?

3. Your Hidden Passions 💡

  • If you didn’t have to be ‘productive’ or ‘useful,’ what would you spend your time doing?

  • What is something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t given yourself permission to?

  • When was the last time you felt truly excited about something? What was it?

4. Your Ideal Life 🌿

  • Imagine you wake up in your dream day, feeling fully yourself. What does it look like?

  • What small, everyday things bring you a sense of peace or joy?

  • How would your life change if you prioritised your passions even 10% more?

5. Letting Go of What’s Holding You Back 🚪

  • What beliefs or fears stop you from prioritising yourself?

  • What would you say to a friend who felt guilty about following her passions? Can you say the same to yourself?

  • What is one tiny step you can take this week to reconnect with something you love?
