Nap Achievements- Mums lets stop shaming ourselves.

Does anyone else hear that baby cry and just think fuck I've got nothing done. I know I have and I have been beating myself up for the past 10 months because my to-do list always seems to be getting longer. I have felt like since number 2, I never stop but I can never catch up.

Well, last week I decided I needed to change tact, what does it achieve to constantly be worrying about what I hadn't done. I decided while writing my gratitude list and to-do list I needed some way to praise myself for how much I do get done. My only response when anyone ask's how is going from 1-2 is "busy", so I must be doing something.

I loved the idea of a "Tada list" and although I have a reminder set in my phone to do this with my husband every week it has fallen by the wayside despite it really being such a lovely connecting activity (Try that too). My idea was a nap achievement list and wow I was amazed how much I did get done in the 90 mins my baby slept.

Generally, it would have just been what I hadn't got done, "Kitchens tidy but rest of the house is a shithole". It also reminded me to actually do a daily goal list rather than Rolling everything over (I love a list). I am not going to get more than 5 things done a day on top of just doing that giant job of keeping 2 kids alive. 1 of those things generally is shower hair and makeup because I've realised how shit I feel when I don't have time for that, the rest are generally Mum work. I try and number them if there's wet washing in the machine that now gets top of the list. I can't cope with the shame of rewashing it 3 times because I've left it to get damp. (Just remember I've left a wash in the machine all day). I never set a goal to empty my wash basket as its an unrealistic goal, I will always have washing, and even if I do manage to put it away it's unlikely to be empty for more than 3 hours so what's the pointing of counting that as any level of success.

So next time you start chastising yourself for getting nothing done, write a list of all the things you have done. I would a hundred percent put down watching a whole episode of a TV programme as I have been watching the

for the last 3 days and I just want to find out how it ends. Life's short let's celebrate those little wins, constantly criticising ourselves doesn't achieve anything more than one unhappy Mum (who's drowning in washing
